Booked this place because I wanted to show my friend visiting from Germany how great some of the resorts are in the Philippines. Instead of pride, I only felt shame.
The price we paid, approximately USD130 per room per night because it was Easter weekend, was way too much. Even with the food, this place is worth only USD40 per room per night.
This facility (you can’t call it a resort) is badly in need of maintenance. I tried three rooms before I calmed down. The second one I stayed in (room 108) looked more like a prison cell with dank walls; the toilet did not have a seat. I saw better accommodations when I toured Alcatraz. It did not have hot water because the centralized system was under repair. The third room (room 202) was an “upgrade” because it had enough room for a family. Basically, it was just more of the same inferior quality.
The staff was friendly but did not know how to work intelligently. They work long hours serving breakfast through dinner. I’m sure the facility is breaking some kind of labor law.
The food was ok but my friend and I took turns suffering from diarrhea. If they can’t maintain the rooms well, it stands to reason they don’t maintain a clean kitchen.
My recommendation? Stay in a nice hotel in Manila, drive to Anilao for the day to do your diving and return to Manila. Stay away from this awful place.
This place is really nice for divers… I’ve been there.. nice accommodation… =)
